In the world of Kei Murayamas (A Centaur's Life), our world took a different path of evolution, leading to the many different races we learn about in the manga/anime. Except for fish, animals in their world look different from ours as they have six limbs. Humans are considered mythical creatures to them.
Centaurs were once a warlike species. It was common to train all centaurs, male and female alike, in the art of archery. Some of the younger generations though, like Himeno Kimihara, just participate to please their elders.

Angelfolk[]
Angelfolk are often characterized by their wings on their backs and the halos on their head. The halos that angelfolk have seem to be connected by a small, single hair-like appendage, and the halos are the same color of the color of their hair.
One legend about the Angelfolk's wings is that they evolved to protect them from the cold.
Antarcticans[]
Antarcticans excel in natural sciences and technology. It is offensive to call them snake people since they are birds, which more closely resemble reptiles than actual. Antarcticans' jaws have little strength, so they don't bite hard. Their skeletons also don't have a wide rib structure, so they cannot swallow food whole, and the only Antarctican who can lay eggs is the queen.
The last name of every member of the species is Quetzalcoatl Sassassul who also an exchange student from Antarctica, also informs us about her species' fear of swimming and deep water since falling in the water is a death sentence in Antarctica. By principle, most normal citizens and soldiers are female. Not much is know about their daily lives. The Antarcticans understanding of art is logical riddles and equations. The Chi-chans once called her Dinosaur-sama, a fact that humored Sassassul.
Catfolk[]
Catfolk are a species characterized by their feline-like traits. They have cat ears & tails. Catfolk are seen to have control of their tails, able to move it in the directions they please.
Centaur[]
Centaurs are a horse-like species which have the upper body of a human and the lower body of a horse. Although the upper body is mostly human, centaurs have horse ears rather than human ears.
Because of centaur's increased body weight, homes and other wooden structures often have to be reinforced. If this is not done, structures may break under pressure or heavy impacts. (Example: Ep.1, The theater set breaks when Himeno stands on top. After jumping off as it crumbles, the stage gets a hole as well from the impact of her jump.)
Centaurs also tend to be pretty fast when running. Although Himeno is quite fast compared to Nozomi and Kyoko, she is slower than her centaur peers, hence why she is not on the Centaur Track Team.
